Cities XXL is a supersized city-builder simulation game developed by Focus Home Interactive as a sequel to their earlier game, Cities XL Platinum. In Cities XXL you can design, build, and manage the world’s largest and most diverse cities. Town-planning includes home locations, retail plots, offices, industry and infrastructure across 47 architectural styles and 1000+ buildings, manage the happiness of your city with leisure activities, landmarks, and ecology and pollution management. It features new structures, but also all-new ecological buildings and upgrades, such as the park-and-ride, electric car dealership, and bike hire, Cities XXL offers a greater building experience. The game presents three types of building lots: residential, commercial and industrial, each of which has a different density. Residential lots are furthermore distinguished by four social classes: unskilled workers, skilled workers, executives, and elites. Before designating building lots, players are required to select which class of residents that may live there. The social class chosen for a lot will not be modified by the simulation.
