Reus

Reus is an indie, simulation, strategy videogame developed and published by independent game studio Abbey Games. As a world building “god game” it fulfills many of the things you’d naturally expect. You will be given a 2-dimensional barren planet and 4 giants and you are able to modify the nature of the planet through terraforming or by creating life on it. You can create different biomes, plants, animals and resources. Attracted by this, humans will settle and build villages, which you can then grow and care for. The game is primarily about providing for humanity while monitoring how quickly they claim the resources you give them. Remember, the actions of the player can influence the humans’ behavior for they cannot be directly controlled. Reus brings something entirely unique to the genre but still manages to give a familiar feel. It’s complex and well balanced system will keep you busy for hours as you watch the different civilizations develop themselves.
